Benchmark Series

Thermally modified white ash and thermally modified Scots pine.

Heat and steam, no chemicals. This process gives the wood rot resistance, stability, and beauty.

Thermory has over 20 years of experience thermally modifying wood. We’ve sold over 200 million sq. ft. world wide.

Yes, it will fade – all wood products do – but this will not impact rot resistance or stability. Treat with CUTEK® Extreme, a penetrating oil (not a sealer) with colortone to reflect the UV rays of the sun to allow the brown color to last longer, or allow to age naturally to a beautiful silver-gray. The aging process typically happens within 6 months.

No, absolutely no chemicals – only heat and steam.

Machined ends that connect boards the long way. Every other brand of decking requires the ends of the boards to rest on joists except Thermory white ash.
No, this is too large of a joint to produce with a hand router. You will never need to, if the board is long enough to span 2 joists.

White ash is sourced from North America and northern Europe. Scots pine is sourced from Scandinavia.

White ash (Fraxinus americana) has a janka hardness of 1320. Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris) has a janka hardness of 540.
The colors are the natural result of the thermal modification process. White ash is a rich exotic brown, and Scots pine is a lighter golden brown. Unoiled, both will naturally weather to grey over time. We have additional colors available in our Drift and Ignite line of cladding.

Perpendicular installations: support joists should be no more than 16” on center.
45º angle installations: support joists should be 12” on center.

No, these are made of polyomethylene (POM), one of the strongest plastics available.
No, PaCS™ are not intended for docks. Waterfront applications are no problem with PaCS™ as long as it’s not a dock.

Picea abies, commonly referred to as Norway spruce. Janka is 380 (cedar’s is 350).

A water- and acrylate-based exterior paint, produced by Teknos, a 70-year-old Finnish company.

Indoors, product should be installed with nails or screws. SS fasteners are not required.

No, standard wood installation practices should be followed.

3-5 years without any major change in appearance.

It can be refinished, but not with the same multi-layer Drift finish.

It can be nailed with a brad nail or screws, but only stainless steel.

Air space is always needed to avoid moisture accumulating behind the boards.

No need to treat the ends. Back side is already oiled. Cuts should be sealed with touch-up paint or sealer.

No, the soft wood is what splinters and this has been brushed away.

Only if the deck is not maintained properly. Regular yearly cleaning is important to remove dust and debris that might gather in the shallow areas.
Our key features are consistent supply, unique colors, dependable stability, no imbedded metals, and rot resistance; these are all things that real barn wood products do not provide.

Rebel Series – Ignite

Thermally modified spruce that is either wire brushed or embossed before finishing with an industrial-grade exterior paint.

A water- and acrylate-based exterior paint, produced by Teknos, a 70-year-old Finnish company.

No, Ignite is meant to mimic it without any of the downfalls of the traditional charring.

The texture is embossed with a large roller before the black finish is applied and is quite permanent.

Due to the manufacturing process all boards will be random in their pattern with little-to-no chance of replication.

Ignite cladding can create the perfect accent wall or ceiling without worrying about any char.

Indoors, product should be installed with nails or screws. SS fasteners are not required. If gluing, to create a fastener-free look, a urethane adhesive should be used.
For very wet areas it is optional to use a 1 mm gap between boards.

5 years without any major change in appearance.

It can be refinished to the original color using a color match from Sherwin-Williams.
Screws are the preferred attachment method and should always be stainless. We carry a black-finished stainless screw that is perfect for this material.
Air space is always needed to avoid moisture accumulation behind the boards.

No need to treat the ends already finished. Back side is already sealed. Cuts should be sealed with touch-up paint or sealer.

Rebel Series – Kodiak

No, that side contains the pith of the tree and is not as durable as the wire-brushed side. There is an offset groove on this side to deter its use.

Picea abies, commonly referred to as Norway spruce. Janka is 380 (cedar’s is 350).

No, the soft wood is what splinters and this has been brushed away. It is very conformable to walk on, even with bare feet.

Only if the deck is not maintained properly. Regular yearly cleaning is important to remove dust and debris that might gather in the shallow areas.
